A 17-year-old killed in a single-vehicle crash Monday night in Piscataway was a beautiful, smart, athletic young girl, according to a family member.
Cassandra Feliciano, who went by Cassie, was driving on South Randolphville Road near Centennial Avenue when her vehicle struck a utility pole and overturned around 7:40 p.m., officials said.
Emergency workers removed the teen from the vehicle and brought her to an area hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The Middlesex County Prosecutors Office on Wednesday declined to provide additional information about the crash, saying the investigation is ongoing.
A student at Piscataway High School, Feliciano was a member of the softball team, according to a GoFundMe.com established to raise money for her funeral expenses. She was the eldest of three girls and previously lived in Carteret before moving to Piscataway.
The family member who organized the GoFundMe.com couldnt be reached Wednesday. School officials also didnt immediately respond to a request to comment.
Superintendent Frank Ranelli sent a letter to the high school community mourning Felicianos death, according to TapInto.net.
