Trump Warns Freshly Re-elected Governor DeSantis Against Running For President In 2024: ‘He Could Hurt Himself Badly’

News

Donald Trump warned Florida's re-elected Republican Gov. Ron De Santis against running for the presidency in 2024.

What Happened: Trump said in an interview that he doesn't know if DeSantis is running.

"I think if he runs, he could hurt himself very badly. I really believe he could hurt himself badly," said the former president, reported Fox News.

I think he would be making a mistake, I think the base would not like it I don't think it would be good for the party.

I would tell you things about him that won't be very flattering I know more about him than anybody other than, perhaps, his wife.

Why It Matters: DeSantis defeated Democratic-rival Charlie Crist in the gubernatorial polls held Tuesday, reported Associated Press.

DeSantis became the first Republican to win the Democrat stronghold of Miami-Dade County in two decades, according to the Press.

Earlier, Trump lawyer Alina Habba told DeSantis that he "needs to stay in Florida" and said he should "not jump the gun" in declaring his presidential bid.
