You won’t need your car keys here. This private island sanctuary in the Bahamas is only accessible by boat, seaplane or helicopter.

Montage Cay, a resort community on Abaco Island, will offer 50 suite accommodations, seven white sand beaches, a full-service spa and swimming pools when it opens next year.

And for those wanting to own a Caribbean retreat, the Residences at Montage Cay will consist of 29 estate homes and 18 villas with access to all the hotel amenities as well as home management services.

That includes housekeeping, in-residence dining, maintenance, security and concierge services. There will even be pre-arrival provisioning and access to a private chef.

Each of the turn-key waterfront homes will be custom designed for the home site and range from four to eight bedrooms. Views will take in the aquamarine-colored waters of the Abaco Sea and the Atlantic.

A four-bedroom, four-bathroom home currently being offered is priced at US $9.5 million. Ryan Knowles and Rhonda Waton of MAISON Bahamas are the listing agents.

A vision for the beachside home could include walls of glass, vaulted ceilings, open-plan living space and an indoor-outdoor bathroom.

Montage Cay is about a 10-minute boat ride or within a mile of the shore of Marsh Harbour, which has the second largest airport in the Bahamas. Shopping, restaurants, grocery stores and pharmacies are close at hand.

The atoll has a breakwater and an interior waterway ringed with docks and boat slips for vessels up to 110 feet. The 46-slip deep-water marina is already operational.

Other resort amenities will include fitness and wellness opportunities, six food and beverage outlets and water sport activities including fly-fishing, diving and sailing.

The 53-acre island is part of the 120-mile-long Abaco chain, about 170 miles from Palm Beach, Florida, and 110 miles from Nassau, the capital of the Bahamas.

Montage Cay is scheduled to open in 2023.
